Locknfest - Lake Party - 13. April 2008

In the meantime the craziest and most adventurous but first of all wettest spectacle of the winter season in the Pustertal valley, the so-called "Locknfest" (puddle festival) on the Bruneck Kronplatz, is known everywhere. All this started more than 10 years ago, when a few local people tried to cross the little pond that is formed by melted snow in the Seewiese on the Kronplatz every spring. In the last twelve years thanks to artificial water inlet the big puddle has developed into a respectable one that has become very popular not only in every corner of the South Tyrol but also across the borders.

In order to cross this "puddle" cars without wheels, marriage-beds, bath tubs, rockets, office desks, deck-chairs with umbrellas, objects made of tyres, naked, fully dressed or uniformed people as well as a great variety of other rolling or sliding vehicles have tried to make their way down the slope leading to the puddle. For those who are less courageous and more scared of water the patentee of the "Locknfest", the Bruneck ski club, offers cool music and a great variety of delicacies. In short, big fun at the end of the winter season!

Devil parade - December 2008

Devil parades certainly appertain for the tradition of our country and Bruneck further, cares this historical custom in such a way. And so the annual devil parade developed for a great racket, with the participation of meantime more than 300 devils. In the history, the devil causes terror and fear, above all of course for the children. However, it is in the final analysis a question here of the representation of property and evil. The children are at first themselves afraid, because the grim devils with their concatenation and their bells may guarantee for noise and then they are pleased, because the good Santa Claus comes with his presents.

Figures however releasing the dire and fear, dark shapes, that devils may look and figures from old time first conquer the city centre so that one feels offset into another time. Noise of chains, Bells, devil carts, fireworks light spat, and so forth make with a wild racket to evening hours and on account of the early beginning of darkness a very special atmosphere.

More than a few thousand people follow tensely every year the wild activity and the parade, which leads of the upper city in Bruneck, through the city narrow street onto the Graben with destination on the Capuchin place. Pre-Christmas time and Christmas market in Bruneck are going hand in hand with the devil parade - a custom and racket of the other kind!

December / January Christmas market - Bruneck

The scent of biscuits and gluhwein fills the air over the Bruneck Graben, a beautiful pedestrian street, where some hard-working people in Father Christmas’s workshop prepare a great number of different gifts from the local craft for Christmas. Christmas balls in many different sizes and colours, straw stars and candles, Christmas cribs in many different forms, numerous pieces of handicraft made of wood and glass as well as many other local products and articles can be purchased or simply admired at the stalls of the Bruneck Christmas market decorate with much loving care.

Delicacies and specialities from the local gastronomy and a great variety of events and initiatives serve as a wonderful setting for the pre-Christmas activities. The Christmas market gives the Bruneck Graben a very special atmosphere, offers guests and local people the possibility to buy some nice gifts for their loved ones or simply keep some nice memories of a Christmas in Bruneck, and furthermore it makes it easier for children and grown-ups to wait for Father Christmas

At the city hall place, the Graben, the Gilmplace and in the upper city a lot of associations and organizations of the municipality Bruneck will guarantee a lot of entertainment during these three days. A  lot of music, culinary specialties and delicacies, child program and games guarantee best atmosphere but also a congenial be together in the center of Bruneck.
